  1. McKinley Park

    • McKinley Park sprawls over 1.5 acres, and is the largest of Sacramento's rose gardens. Started in 1928 and maintained by the City of Sacramento Parks and Recreation Department, the garden is home to 1200 roses. Specialties of McKinley Park include tree roses and blooming annuals. Visitors will also delight in seeing several old-time large flowering climbers that have been planted along the periphery in rose arches. Weddings are a common occurrence at McKinley Park, which is open without charge during daylight hours.

    World Peace Rose Gardens

    • The World Peace Rose Garden is located at the California State Capitol Park. This lavish garden is one of five created around the world. The simple mission statement begins with the commitment to advance peace and understanding among all people. These amazing gardens radiate peace. Visitors will enjoy hundreds of roses including the exquisite Hybrid Teas, Grandifloras, and Floribundas. The garden is open during daylight hours and is free of charge.

    Natomas Rose Garden

    • The Natomas Rose Garden was opened to the public in 2008 and now showcases over 500 roses. Volunteers built the park-like rose garden and continue to maintain the roses. It is now a popular place for weddings. Volunteers offers gardening classes and hold fundraisers to help raise money to complete the rose garden's infrastructure and for its continual care. This park has benches that invite guests to linger and stay.

    The Sacramento City Cemetery Heritage Rose Garden

    • The Sacramento City Cemetery Heritage Rose Garden is inside of the city's cemetery. Volunteers have collected, cataloged and researched over 450 different rose varieties. The roses have been acquired from homesteads, abandoned properties and the roadsides of Northern California. Many of the garden's heritage and antique roses come with interesting histories of how they originated and how they were found in California. The garden is open to the public during daylight hours, and there is no charge to visit and enjoy the beauty and history the garden offers.

    Rose Acres Rose Garden

    • Rose Acres Rose Garden in the Sacramento suburb of El Dorado is a private garden that is open for public viewing. Rose connoisseurs consider this a must-see on any tour of the area's gardens. Owners Muriel and Bill Humenick showcase hundreds of roses in their beautiful setting. Roses are available for sale here. The garden is open without charge but please call ahead. You will enjoy an afternoon touring the exquisite garden and personally meet Muriel and Bill.
