Yellow Rose Bush Varieties

The most romantic of all flowers, the rose has captured the heart and imagination for ages. Grown since the 18th century, the yellow rose symbolizes friendship and devotion. It remains a favorite of connoisseurs and novice growers for its color shades, sizes and fragrance, as well as its growing ease. Renowned for its golden beauty, the yellow rose compliments any occasion, from graduation to wedding to a cheery pick-me-up bouquet.
  1. Golden Celebration

    • "Golden Celebration," a stunning rose, offers sun-yellow, large blooms with 75 petals on long stems and few thorns. With its heavy aroma, the scent from one rose can fill a room. Healthy and disease resistant, almost nothing stops the "Golden Celebration" from growing to 8 feet tall when mature, although the normal size is 5 feet tall by 4 feet wide. Care is required to spray for black spots that can discolor the flowers.

    Eclipse

    • The "Eclipse" rose has a deep, golden-yellow color at its center, and its outer petals fade to a light yellow. The blooms have buds that open to 28 petals. It is one of the easiest hybrid tea roses to grow. The bush is hearty and reasonably disease resistant. Little pruning is needed on blooms that grow in clusters. Perfect for cut flowers with a mild fragrance, it grows in warm humid areas with mild winters.

    Golden Wing

    • The "Golden Wing" bush has large, single flowers and curved petals. It grows up to 8 feet high and 6 feet wide. The 5-petal blooms make a great centerpiece with a rich fragrance. The "Golden Wing" rose is a good repeater that is disease resistant when sprayed. Once established, which may take up to 2 years, it does well in poor soil and in containers.

    Agnes

    • The "Agnes" is an exotic rose that resembles a spider; it opens full with double blooms and a strong, honey fragrance. The coarse thick foliage gives it an unusual look. The bush needs room to grow to its potential, usually 6 feet by 5 feet. This vigorous bush is practically disease and insect free and is shade tolerant. A strong repeater in most climates and soils, it grows tall and straight when mature.

    Butterfly

    • Absolutely charming is the best way to describe the rose that looks like a butterfly with five soft petals. The "Butterfly" rose blooms are pale yellow and fade to white on the edges. Fluffy and delicate with small thorns, "Butterfly" has no fragrance, so it is a good choice for those who prefer a scent-free rose. It grows low to the ground but spreads out. The "Butterfly" rose is suitable for planting under other rose bushes, as ground cover or as a border.

    Molineux

    • The "Molineux" is an exceptional rose for containers, making it ideal for apartment and balcony gardens. The blooms reach 30 petals, open almost flat with a strong bouquet. It grows to 3 feet tall in one to two seasons. Wave after wave of soft, butter-yellow blooms will cheer up any home year after year.
