How to Clean Lime Landscape Blocks

Lime landscape blocks add an interesting touch to your lawn or garden. The blocks are available in a variety of colors, such as white, pink, blue and brown. Whether your lime landscape blocks are used as a walkway, border, or just for decoration, exposure to the elements can cause weathering, dirt buildup, moss and algae growth. Harsh or acidic cleaners etch limestone and permanently ruin its appearance, so mild cleaners are necessary for cleaning your landscape blocks.

Instructions

    • 1

Move the lime landscape blocks to a clean, dirt-free area, if necessary. If the blocks are too heavy to carry, transport them in a wheelbarrow.

    • 2

If the landscape blocks are simply dirty, fill a bucket with hot water, and add 3 tbsp. non-citrus dish soap. If the blocks are covered in algae or moss, fill the bucket with a 50/50 mix of water and hydrogen peroxide instead of soap.

    • 3

With a garden hose, rinse any loose dirt from the blocks.

    • 4

Dip a stiff-bristled brush into the bucket, and scrub the lime landscape blocks thoroughly to remove any dirt or stains. If you used hydrogen peroxide, allow it to sit on the blocks for 10 to 15 minutes before rinsing.

    • 5

Rinse the blocks thoroughly with a hose.

    • 6

Dry the blocks with a towel before replacing them.
