Florida Paver Installation Standards

Pavers are pieces of concrete that interlock to cover an area where a homeowner might otherwise pour concrete or lay bricks. You can use them in place of cobblestone paths, which they resemble, for instance. Considering they don't use grout or mortar, the interlocking pavers are easy to install.
  1. Paver Construction

    • Made of poured concrete, pavers are long-lasting and resilient. Manufacturers add color to give the pavers the look of natural stone. However, they are less expensive than natural stone.

    Installation Standards

    • In Florida, the law requires paver installers or homeowners to contact the local utility company to mark underground utilities before beginning the paver installation process. The homeowner needs to locate lawn irrigation pipes, since the utility company will not do this.

    Florida Paver Usage

    • Florida residents use about 3 square feet of pavers per resident per year, according to a report by Ampersand Communications. This compares with usage of about 1.2 square feet per person per year in the United States overall.
