How to Put Stone Around Posts

Garden posts can be a pain to mow or trim around, so many people choose to find ways to decorate around the posts to ease their garden maintenance efforts. Surrounding your posts with stone will ensure that you will no longer need to worry about the hard-to-reach patches of grass while at the same time giving your garden a face lift. So wait for a warm, sunny day, get out your gardening gear and spend the day outdoors.

Instructions

    • 1

Put on your gloves and dig around the posts using your towel. Only dig deep enough to remove the grass, and make sure the shape -- square or circular -- around the post is even on all sides.

    • 2

Line the dirt in the dug-out area with garden liner. Lining the dirt will ensure that grass will not grow back. If you don't want to kill the grass in this area, leave the dirt uncovered.

    • 3

Fill in the lining or dirt area with stone. Place your chosen stones around the posts until you are happy with their position. Make sure no dirt or lining shows through.
