Instructions

    • 1

Choose a design for your labyrinth before you begin construction. If you have no prior experience drawing labyrinths, use a puzzle book that features mazes to choose a design. Draw the labyrinth out on a piece of paper so you become familiar with its construction.

    • 2

Use paint or chalk to draw a full-sized template of your labyrinth on the ground. Periodically reference your labyrinth drawing to ensure that the designs are equivalent. As you create the full-sized template, periodically step back to view your labyrinth from a distance. This will help you construct the labyrinth to the correct proportions.

    • 3

Lay your rocks on top of the template to complete the labyrinth. The rocks don't necessarily need to be touching, but they need to be close enough together so that the boundaries of the labyrinth's interior are well-defined. Ensure that there are no unintentional gaps between two rocks that users might mistake for one of the labyrinth passageways.

Walk through your labyrinth once it is complete. Carry the original drawing with you and reference it to ensure that the full-sized version matches your design. Ensure that all of the intended dead ends are properly marked off by rocks, as you want users to be challenged when navigating your labyrinth.

Invite friends and family to try and navigate your labyrinth. For a fun party game, time how long it takes each person to navigate his way through. Inspiring competition will help make people enthusiastic about your labyrinth.
