You can put one in many kinds of landscapes such as hills, steep slopes, even in places that are not dirt but only a rock surface. Some times people use a rock garden to stop erosion of soil. The use of rocks can also cut down on weeds on you property. Rock Gardens are not only made up of rocks they can use other things to enhance their beauty. Usually when you are planning out a rock garden you don't just walk out to the yard and pick up rocks even though you can use common rocks you will want to go to sand and rock places that specialize in these kinds of rocks.

      You can do almost anything with a rock garden. You can add plants, flowers, shrubs, trees, fountains, and even a fish pond. If you are adding plants or flowers then you will need to arrange the flatter rocks around the plants or flowers to that they will help the flow or water to the roots of you plants and hold it at the roots. To do this just arrange the rocks so they are partly in the dirt and partly layered onto the rows of rocks beside them. You can use areas near trees to have shade for you plants or if you have a bench for people to sit down and admire you garden. You can use shrubs as a way to section off different parts of your garden depending on the size of your garden.
