Spreader Settings for Bayer Advanced Fungus Control

A systemic fungicide, Bayer Fungus Control prevents or cures several common turf diseases. Because the grass blades and roots absorb the active ingredient, propiconazole, it cannot be washed off and is effective for up to a month. Bayer Fungus Control can be used in Scotts, Vigoro and other brands of spreaders.
  1. Preventing Common Diseases

    • At a rate of 2 pounds per 1,000 square feet, Bayer Fungus Control can help prevent anthracnose, brown patch, dollar spot, gray leaf spot, melting out leaf spot, powdery mildew, red thread and fungal rusts. Apply it every 21 to 30 days until the weather is cooler and drier. The spreader setting for this rate ranges from 3.5 to 4.5 on Scotts broadcast spreaders, from 3.5 to 6 on Vigoro broadcast spreaders, and from 7.25 to 8.5 on Scotts drop spreaders.

    Curing Common Diseases

    • It takes a larger dose of Bayer Fungus Control to cure anthracnose, brown patch, dollar spot, gray leaf spot, melting out leaf spot, powdery mildew, red thread and rusts, once they've infected a lawn. Apply it at the rate of 3.5 pounds per 1,000 square feet every 14 days until the disease is under control. The spreader setting for this rate ranges from 5 to 6 on Scotts broadcast spreaders, from 5.5 to 7 on Vigoro broadcast spreaders, and from 9 to 9.5 on Scotts drop spreaders. Once the disease is under control, reduce the rate and timing to the recommendations for preventive applications.

    Preventing Patch Diseases

    • To prevent patch diseases, use 3.5 pounds of Bayer Fungus Control per 1,000 square feet. To control Fusarium patch, apply the product whenever the conditions are favorable for the development of the disease. Apply it every 30 days, beginning in the spring, for summer patch. An application in the spring and fall will reduce the severity of take-all patch.

    Treating Other Diseases

    • To control gray or pink snowmold, use Bayer Fungus Control at a rate of 3.5 pound per 1,000 square feet. Apply it in late fall before the first snowfall, and don't use it on top of snow. To prevent stripe smut, apply 2 pounds per 1,000 square feet once in spring when the grass begins to grow.

    Caution

    • Don't breathe in the dust or get the product in your mouth, on your skin or in your eyes. Wear long pants, long sleeves, gloves, socks and shoes when applying pesticides. Thoroughly wash any exposed skin with soap and water after you've used the fungicide. Wash the clothes you wore separately from other laundry. Avoid runoff into storm drains, ditches, gutters or bodies of water. Do not let children and pets enter the application area until it has been watered and allowed to dry.
