How to Get Rid of Stinkbugs Using Lavender

Many species of stinkbug, though not all, are potential pests, damaging crops and garden plants. At times, they can make a nuisance of themselves by coming inside. Among the natural repellents to keep stinkbugs at bay, one of the best known is lavender. The pungent scent of lavender didn’t develop to make your bedding smell nice; it emits chemical compounds toxic to pests, stinkbugs included. You can use lavender oil or a lavender plant as a stinkbug repellent or a mild pesticide.

Instructions

Plant lavender plants alongside the flowers or vegetables under stinkbug attack. Companion planting is a classic organic method, deterring pests without you needing to do much at all. Lavender has the bonus of attracting useful insects, such as bees, as well as deterring stinkbugs.

Drip 20 to 30 drops of lavender essential oil into a spray bottle and top up with water. Shake thoroughly before spraying afflicted plants. If you see any stinkbugs, spray them directly. The lavender oil might kill them.

Drip lavender oil into candles on an oil burner to deter stinkbugs from coming inside or going near your patio. Remember to keep an eye on naked flames to avoid a fire risk.
