Visit your attic frequently, because the invasion of privacy may drive away animals.
Light up the attic to drive away animals that often prefer dark hideouts. Secure a battery-operated light to a beam or rafter in your attic. Use a light that's of a low voltage and doesn't give off heat. Avoid using electric lighting, because animals may chew on the wires.
Use loud noise to deter animals. Position a battery-operated radio in a corner of the attic. Play loud music to annoy animals and to motivate them to relocate. As an alternative, use a battery-operated ultrasonic sound player. An ultrasonic sound player makes high-pitched sounds that irritate animals but are inaudible to humans.
Spray predator urine in a corner of the attic or in your yard. When the unwanted visiting animal smells the urine of its predator, it gets alarmed and may relocate. Spray the urine in different locations every two days.
Seal up entryways to your home's attic with metal plates, wooden boards, or mesh wire. Cover up air vents and holes in the foundation of your home. Avoid sealing up holes if you are unsure whether all the animals have moved out, because otherwise they may get sealed inside and die from starvation.
