Pull up mugwort by hand. Dispose of it immediately in sealable waste containers to avoid the spreading of rhizomes. Remove each plant by the roots and try to remove as much of the underground rhizomes as possible because the removal of top growth only can potentially stimulate rhizomes and cause them to spread.
Control mugwort through frequent hoeing, but avoid mowing the plant because mugwort is considered resistant to this type of removal. As with hand pulling, dispose of mugwort in waste containers immediately. Try to remove as much of the underground rhizomes as possible when hoeing.
Cut mugwort and spray its "open wounds" with a natural weed control product. Non-selective herbicides made from grain-based vinegar may also be used to control mugwort.
