Fill the hand-held pressure steamer with tap water.
Plug in the steamer and ,if necessary, get extension cords to reach all areas populated by weeds. Turn on the device and allow a few minutes for the water to heat up. The water is hot once you see steam coming out of the sprayer. The time required for the water to heat up depends on the device you use, but typically the water should boil within 5 minutes. Certain devices have a steam-ready light, which indicates you can start applying the steam treatment.
Spray the weeds with steam using the button on your device. Spray two or three blasts of steam, which are sufficient to eliminate the weeds. Aim at the crown of the weed. Be mindful of the other plants in your garden, because the machine kills all plants the steam gets to.
Check back the day after you administer the steam treatment. If the weeds start to turn brown, this is a sign they are dying. Pull out the dead weeds. If there are any weeds left, apply the steam treatment again.
