How to Service a Rhino TW120 Shredder

The Rhino TW120 Shredder is a landscaping attachment for tractors. When turned on and pulled across a lawn or field, the shredder's blades rotate and cut grass or undergrowth up to 2-inches thick. This device is used primarily in pastures, orchards or large tracts of land where traditional lawn mowers would be unsuitable. To keep the Rhino TW120 Shredder operating at an optimal level, inspect and service the machine regularly.

Instructions

    • 1

Put on protective gloves and goggles to prevent incidental cuts from contact with the shredder's blades or irritation from any oils or fluids in the device's motor.

    • 2

Wipe away any build up of lubrication or grease around the shredder parts, using the rag.

    • 3

Add oil after every 8 to 10 hours of operation. Utilize the wrench to remove the "filler plug" bolt on the top of the gear box, and the "test plug" bolt on the side. Pour multi-purpose gear oil P/N 00786250 into the "filler plug" until it runs out of the "test plug." Replace the bolts and clean up excess oil with the rag.

Inspect the driveline shield for cracks. To access the shield, take off the locking screws, align the bearing tabs with the corresponding cone pockets, pull off the half-guard and separate the bearing ring. If the shield has cracks, dents, or the shaft is twisted, a new one must be purchased.

    • 5

Examine the shredder blades for bends, nicks or chips prior to use. If any signs of wear and tear are found, the blades must be replaced. To do this, take off the cover plate located near the gearbox. Use the wrench to separate the lock nut from the blade bolt and free the blade. Insert the new blade in the old blade's position and reattach the blade bolt to the lock nut.
