How to Install a Belt on a Toro S-200

The Toro S-200 is a single-stage snowthrower manufactured from 1979 through 1984. The life of your Toro S-200 snowthrower will be extended if you approach ownership from a preventive maintenance standpoint. The engine pulley, also known as the belt, is one of the parts on the snowthrower that requires preventive maintenance. The belt will become stretched and worn out over time. If you don't change it, the belt will eventually snap. Replacing the belt on your snowthrower can save you lots of time and money over expensive service centers.

Instructions

    • 1

Disassemble the belt cover located on the side of the snowthrower by pulling gently around the edges. Unhook the idler spring located next to the idler pulley.

    • 2

Remove the belt. Remember or make a drawing of the belt routing prior to removal to help you install the new belt correctly.

    • 3

Route the new belt around the pulley wheel, under the idler arm and around the other pulley component. The new belt installs in the same routing pattern as the old belt.
