How to Drain the Carb Bulb on a Snowmachine

Snow machines, or snow blowers, are gas-powered machines that clear snow from driveways and sidewalks during winter. The small gas engines on snow machines sometimes use a device called a primer bulb, or carb bulb, to pump fresh gas from the gas fuel tank to the carburetor when starting. If the primer or carb bulb ever fills up with gas, it is a sign that a fuel line may need to be re-installed once the gasoline has been drained out of the carb bulb.

Instructions

    • 1

Remove the spark plug wire from the snow blower's spark plug.

    • 2

Insert the tip of a flat-head screwdriver underneath the plastic seal where the primer bulb is mounted and pry it off.

    • 3

Remove the fuel lines from the small ports on the back of the primer bulb assembly.

    • 4

Hold the primer bulb upside down to drain out the gasoline and then use a rag to wipe it completely dry.

    • 5

Attach the fuel lines to the ports on the back of the primer bulb assembly by hand. Make sure the lines are firmly attached to the ports so leakage does not occur.

    • 6

Snap the primer bulb assembly back onto the snow machine by hand and replace the spark plug wire.
