How to Restring a Husqvarna 125L Weed Eater

Like the motor that drives it, the trimmer line proves a crucial part of your Husqvarna 125L. During operation, the line spins at high velocity, slicing through unwanted grass and weeds. Damage or routine wear requires having to replace this line. The line winds around a drum concealed inside the trimmer head cover. Accessing the line requires some disassembly of your weed eater. Installing the line properly ensures its effective operation.

Instructions

    • 1

Cut 20 feet of trimmer line from your spool of line, using a pair of sharp scissors. Set the line aside momentarily.

    • 2

Squeeze the tabs on the sides of your Husqvarna 125L trimmer head and detach the cap and drum from the trimmer head assembly. The drum, around which the trimmer line winds, sets directly beneath the cap.

    • 3

Unwind the old line from around the drum and discard.

    • 4

Double the replacement trimmer line over on itself so that both ends are even.

    • 5

Hook the bend in the line over the notch in the center of the side of the drum.

    • 6

Hold the drum with one hand while winding both lines around their individual tracks on the side of the drum. Wind each line evenly so that the line does not cross over itself. Maintain tension on both lines while winding.

    • 7

Wind the lines until approximately 6 inches of free line remains.

    • 8

Look for the two notches across from one another on the bottom edge of the drum. Pass one line through the first notch. Pass the other line through the second notch. To reach the second notch, pass the line across the center of the drum.

    • 9

Reinsert the drum into the bottom of the trimmer head cap so that the lines align with the eyelet openings in the side of the cap.

    • 10

Press the drum and cap back onto trimmer head so that the assembly clicks in place.
