How to Tune Up a 4-Cylinder Craftsman Weedwacker

For example, you will want to remove any dirt from the inside parts and exterior of the weedwacker. Problems starting the mower before a tune up could also be due to bad gasoline or lack of gas and also the filter or spark plugs could be dirty or damaged.

    • 2

Remove the fours screw over the motor cover using a Phillips screwdriver. Lift up and remove the cover.

    • 3

Pull out the air filter and wash it with warm running water and dish soap if it needs to be cleaned.

    • 4

Squeeze any excess water that remains in the filter and place the filter back into the weedwacker.

    • 5

Remove the two screws from the hood over the spark plug near the bottom of the motor using a flathead screwdriver. Lift off the hood and set it aside.

    • 6

Insert a socket wrench into the connection end of the spark plug in order to pry it off.

    • 7

Clean the spark plug using an old cloth and wire brush. Replace the plug with a new part if it is broken.

    • 8

Reconnect the hood and reinsert the two screws. Place the motor cover back and reinsert the four screws into the cover.

    • 9

Clean off the rest of the exterior of your weedwacker using a wet cloth in order to remove any debris. Dry off the weedwacker with a dry cloth or paper towels.
