Carburetor Settings for the Homelite 30cc Blower Engine

The Homelite 30cc blower features an engine with a carburetor that can sometimes require adjustments. It is recommended that air intake settings on the carburetor be made once a year, and failure to do so can cause the carburetor to sputter and whine while being used or fail to run. You can troubleshoot your carburetor's settings and get the engine back to its proper operating condition regardless of your blower repair knowledge.
  1. Cold Start

    • Find the choke lever on the left side of the Homelite blower. This regulates the air intake into the carburetor when the engine is running. Set the choke lever to the "Full" position if the engine is cold and has not been run for some time. This is known as a cold start. Turn the blower on once the choke adjustment has been made. Once the engine has started and is running smoothly, immediately move the choke lever back to "Run" position.

    Warm Start

    • Do not run the Homelite blower on the "Full" choke setting if the engine is already warm when you attempt to start the machine. Instead, put the choke knob on the "Run" setting and start the engine that way.

    Carburetor Air FIlter Cleaning

    • There is a nut at the center of the Homelite mower's choke dial. Ensure the engine is turned off, and then remove the nut using a socket wrench to access the carburetor's air filter for cleaning. This is necessary if the engine is sputtering and whining after starting. Pull the choke dial off once the nut has been removed. This provides access to the air filter directly beneath the dial. Use a soft brush to clean the filter gently.

    Reassembly

    • Slide the Homelite's choke dial back over the air filter once the filter has been cleaned. Insert the nut back into the center of the dial and secure it in place with clockwise twists from your socket wrench.
