How to Install a Choke Cable on a Honda HS621 Snow Blower

If you have a Honda HS621 model snow blower that dies shortly after start up, then you may have a problem with the choke. The choke control regulates the fuel to air ratio for carburetor engines, and the choke control cable has a knob connected to it. If you notice that the choke cable is cracked, you can order a replacement part directly from Honda or an online retailer and swap it out yourself.

Instructions

    • 1

Park your Honda HS621 snow blower on a flat, paved surface.

    • 2

Locate the choke knob on the back left side of the snow blower engine next to the engine switch.

    • 3

Pull up on the choke knob to open the choke then continue to pull out the choke to also pull out the choke cable.

    • 4

Remove the screw from the choke cable holder with a Phillips head screwdriver then remove the cable holder from the snow blower.

    • 5

Push down on the choke cable so that it releases from the bottom control hook then pull the choke and cable entirely off of the snow blower.

    • 6

Insert a new choke cable into the same position as the old cable on the engine and lower it far enough so that it connects to the bottom control hook.

    • 7

Place the cable holder back over the choke intake hole on the engine and reinsert the screw into the holder. Slide the rest of the cable all the way down into the engine.

    • 8

Press all the way down on the choke knob and turn it clockwise to lock it into position.
