How to Get the Rivets Off the Front of a 2006 EZ-Go Electric Cart to Replace the Switch

EZ-Go manufactures a complete line of golf carts for residential and commercial use. They also manufacture their golf carts with service in mind, using reusable rivets to secure the splash shield behind the batteries and the switches on the dashboard. Getting the rivets off the front of a 2006EZ-Go electric cart to replace the switch is the same as their other model years. It is necessary to disconnect power to the electric cart before removing the switch to prevent accidental shocks and starting.

Turn off the ignition switch and pull out the key. Lift the seat to access the battery compartment. There are four batteries under the seat. One battery has two red battery cables connecting to the battery and the cart. A separate battery has two black cables connecting to the battery and cart.

Loosen the cable clamp on the red (positive) cables where they connect to the battery, using a wrench. Repeat the process for the two black (negative) cables. Lift the red cables off the battery terminal post and pull the ends away from the battery. Repeat for the black cables.

Insert the EZ-Go electric cart ignition key into the center of the rivet. Push the center of the rivet with the key until you hear and feel the center pin snap into position. This snap unlocks the rivet so that you can pull it out.
