Remove the last sprinkler head on one line of sprinklers from one valve. Unscrew the head counterclockwise and pull it straight off.
Manually turn the valve on in the controller box and allow water to flow out of the sprinkler without a head for about five minutes. This flushes the system for the valve and cleans each sprinkler head and riser that attaches to the valve.
Screw the sprinkler head on clockwise until it is tight. Flush out each line of sprinklers for each valve in the same manner.
Turn the irrigation system on and observe the spray patterns of each head. If the heads are misting or leaking water instead of distributing water evenly over the ground, it is a sign of incorrect water pressure that needs regulating.
Insert a flat-head screwdriver into the slot on top of a valve in the controller box. This is the external bleed screw. Turn the screwdriver 1/2 to 1/4 turn counterclockwise to increase the water flow if the sprinkler heads are misting. Turn the screwdriver 1/2 to 1/4 turn clockwise to decrease the water flow if sprinkler heads are dripping.
Observe the spray patterns and make adjustment to increase or decrease water flow on each valve until all spray heads are emitting water correctly.
