How to Wind a Weed Eater Spool

A weed eater helps to chop down annoying weeds around your house and keep the edges of your lawn and trees looking nice. When you trim against stones, chain-link fences or other hard material the line of the weed eater can break. Winding a new line into your weed eater spool is a task that can be completed quickly.

Instructions

Measure the line to the distance you would like. You can use a measurement of up to twenty feet. Cut the line using garden scissors or other similar heavy duty scissors. Cut off the worn ends of the line to ensure a cleaner cut and a more manageable line.

    • 2

Insert 1/2 inch of the line into the small hole on the spool head in the direction of the arrow until about an inch of line comes out the other side of the spool. Grab this extra piece of line with your hand and hold it.

    • 3

Wind the line securely around the spool head and tightly. Do not over tighten though or the line could have trouble releasing from the spool. Verify you are winding the line as evenly as possible and in layers to ensure the line is released correctly.

    • 4

Thread the line into the eyelet on the spool and line up the notch with the eyelet. This will hold the line in place. Put the spool head back onto the weed eater body and snap it into place. Use the tap securing button if applicable.

Tap the spool when in operation to release the line or gently pull on the line before use to extend the line.
