How to Adjust a Rain Bird Pop-Up Sprinkler Head

Pull the Rain Bird sprinkler head out of the ground. Let it snap back into place. If there is something restricting the action, such as grass or other debris, remove it.

Turn the spray head to adjust the direction of the spray. On some models you may need to twist the collar that surrounds the spray head to make the adjustment. Some models have an adjustment screw that you turn. Turn the water on to the system to ensure the spray is flowing as you want. Repeat as necessary to fine tune the direction.

Turn the flow rate screw on top of the sprinkler nozzle clockwise to reduce the flow rate of the sprinkler head. A fully tightened screw reduces the rate 25 percent. Turn the screw counterclockwise to increase the throw of the sprinkler head. Attach a diffuser control flap to the sprinkler head if you need to reduce the throw even more.
