How to Hook Up a Parallel Power Kit to Two Honda Generators

Installing a parallel power kit allows the EU3000i Honda generators to double its wattage. This allows you to get the extra power you need without having to purchase a larger, much more expensive generator. The EU1000i and EU2000i require parallel cords; the Honda EU3000i is the only one in the series that requires the parallel power kit. Installing the kit takes very little time and requires only a few tools.

Things You'll Need

  • 10 mm socket wrench
  • 11/32 nut driver
  • Parallel power kit

Instructions

    • 1

Set the generators side by side, facing in the same direction.

    • 2

Remove the four nuts holding the front face plate located on the four corners. Install the mounting plate from the kit that fits on the bottom studs. Leave the nuts only hand tight.

    • 3

Install the two standoffs (bolt extensions) that came with the kit. These go into the two bottom holes from which the nuts were removed in Step 2.

    • 4

Attach the support bar from the kit, which is bolted onto the standoffs and hand tighten them. Attach the two Nylok nuts onto the studs that are protruding from the support bar, coming through from the mounting plate. Tighten down all the nuts that were hand tightened.

    • 5

Insert the parallel cable jacks into the holes marked "Parallel Operation" into the first generator. Attach the green/yellow ground cable with a screwdriver to the grounding stud protruding out on the lower-right side of the generator.

    • 6

Attach the other ends of the parallel cable jacks into the second generator marked "Parallel Operation." Attach the green/yellow ground cable to the grounding stud protruding out on the lower-right side of the generator. Start both generators and test the operation to ensure proper installation.
