How to Replace the String on a Weed Eater RTE115

The Weed Eater RTE115 is an electric weed trimmer that uses a replaceable trimmer spool. The use of the spool eliminates string winding. When you run out of string, you simply replace the trimmer spool with a new pre-loaded trimmer spool. Although this might not be cost effective, it prevents the hassles of trying to string the spool correctly so the string feeds out properly. However, if you want to save money, you can install a new string in your old spool.

Hold the spool still and remove the cap from the spool following the directional arrow on the trimmer cap.

Remove the line guide ring and the spool from the Weed Eater.

Cut 25 feet of 0.065-inch trimmer string with a pair of scissors. Place one end of the string into the center cavity in the top of the spool and wrap the string around the spool counterclockwise. Leave 4 to 6 inches of string unwound.
