How to Hang a Weed Eater in a Garage

Keep your Weed Eater running smoothly and ready to use by storing it properly. One way to store your Weed Eater out of the way and off your garage floor is to hang it on the wall. There are heavy-duty utility hooks available at home-improvement centers to hang a Weed Eater from in a garage. These are the same types of hooks you use to hang ladders. Hang the Weed Eater horizontally to prevent fuel and oil leakage. Although you might see them displayed vertically in the showroom, they do not have fuel in the tank.

Instructions

  Measure the length of your Weed Eater with a tape measure from the curve of the shaft near the trimmer head to the middle of the engine.

  Locate two studs on your garage wall as far apart as the measurement of your Weed Eater.

  Measure up from the floor 5 feet on each stud and mark the wall with a pencil. This is the height you are mounting your hooks, which keeps the trimmer out of reach of smaller children.

  Drill a pilot hole in each stud with a drill bit slightly smaller in diameter than the utility hook's screw.

  Position the screw end of the utility hook into the pilot hole and turn the hook clockwise to screw it into the stud. Repeat for the opposite hook.

  Set the trimmer over the wall hooks with the engine close to one and the trimmer head pointing down. The trimmer will sit between the wall and the upright portion of the hook.
