How to Reload a Weed Eater Line

A Weed Eater works on the principle of spinning a nylon cord at high speeds, which cuts the weeds. The cord is stored in a spool in the head of the Weed Eater. When needed, it is released by the user tapping the Weed Eater on the ground to activate a spring-loaded mechanism. Eventually, over time, the line will be depleted and need to be replaced. A spool of new line is available from a home improvement store, and its standard size fits most models of Weed Eaters.

Instructions

    • 1

Flip the Weed Eater over to gain access to the underside of the head.

    • 2

Grab the hub on the head and twist it counterclockwise. The hub should disengage from the head and the spool will be exposed.

    • 3

Remove the spool from the spool cavity and discard it.

    • 4

Set the new spool into the spool cavity on top of the spool drive. Feed the end of the line through the port on the side and pull out about 6 inches of line.

    • 5

Place the hub evenly over the spool and push down while turning it clockwise.
