How to Change the Line on a Ryobi Battery Trimmer

A Ryobi battery-operated weed trimmer is cost effective, quiet and is relatively lightweight. Just like gas-powered weed trimmers, you must routinely change the trimmer string to keep it in proper working order. Although models vary, the process for replacing the string in a Ryobi battery-operated trimmer is simple.

Instructions

    • 1

Look at the bottom of the trimmer head and line up the arrow on the inner spool with the arrow on the inner reel.

    • 2

Insert 10 feet of line into one of the holes on the side of the trimmer head, and feed it up into the line-loading hole located on the inner reel.

    • 3

Slide ½ inch of the trimmer line into the line-locking hole on the inner reel.

    • 4

Pull the line back out through the hole in the trimmer head until the line is stout against the inner reel.

    • 5

Duplicate the process with a second 10-foot string and the other hole in the trimmer head.

    • 6

Rotate the inner reel counterclockwise until approximately 4 inches of line sticks out of the cutter head.
