How to Adapt a Pallet Fork to a Bucket

Unloading a pallet of material can be both time-consuming and backbreaking work out on a farm. Instead, place a pallet fork attachment that can clip to the bucket of a tractor to unload the material while it's still on the pallet and set it in place without unloading it. By the use of a clamping mechanism, these pallet forks adapt your tractor bucket to suit your needs, saving time and a sore back.

Instructions

Lower the bucket of the tractor so that the bottom is close to the ground with the front of the bucket pointed slightly upward. Place the bucket just high enough to slide the pallet fork bottom of the attachment below the bottom of the bucket, overlapping the end.

Adjust the forks from side to side to place them in the proper location for inserting them into the skid, or frame, of the pallet. Place the forks so they go toward each side of the open pallet skid, each supporting approximately half the weight. Push them all the way into place on the edge of the bucket so that only the forks themselves are overhanging.

Tighten the clamps on each fork to secure them tightly to the bucket. Make sure they are snug and will not come off or twist around. Screw the clamps tightly by hand clockwise. Lift the bucket slightly and verify these forks are secured properly by pushing them from each side and trying to shake them loose. The tractor can now be used as a pallet fork to move your palletized materials.
