How to Mix RC Fuel Into Gas

An RC vehicle uses a fuel mixture known as nitro. The blend usually consists of 30 percent nitromethane, which is related to propane, but is less combustible. Methanol makes the fuel more powerful by cooling the engine down, and is the primary component of the fuel, making up 50 percent of it. The remaining 20 percent of nitro fuel is made up of synthetic oil and other additives. The oil lubricates the engine, making it run more efficiently. This fuel can be mixed with oil and gasoline to be used in any two-stroke engine. For example, certain chainsaws, weed eaters and edge trimmers have these types of motors. They are recognizable because they do not have separate tanks for fuel and oil like a automobile.

Instructions

Look in the owners manual to see what the correct ratio of fuel to oil must be. It will usually have a ratio of 50:1. This number needs to be divided by the size of the fuel tank, which will also be listed in the manual. Take the tank size and divide it by the first number in your ratio. For example, a 9.25 ounce fuel tank will need 0.18 oz. of oil. The remaining 9 oz. (rounded for good measure) need to be a half-and-half mixture of nitro fuel and gasoline.

Set the bucket on a cement floor in a well-ventilated location. You will use this to concoct the fuel mixture for your chainsaw or weed eater.

Measure out the oil first using the turkey baster. Squirt 0.18 oz. of the synthethic oil into the bottom of the bucket. Follow this with 4.5 oz. of nitro fuel and 4.5 oz. of gasoline. Mix carefully with a wooden paint stirrer until fully blended. Pour the mixture carefully into the fuel tank of your device.
