Instructions

    • 1

Remove the spark-plug adapter form the chain saw using a wrench. The spark plug will be labeled on your motor. Check over the spark plug to make sure it is not damaged or faulty.

    • 2

Use a toothbrush and some gasoline to clean the spark plug. Wipe the spark plug down with a rag after you have cleaned it. Re-install the spark plug.

    • 3

Pull the starter cord to start the chain saw. Replace the spark plug if the chain saw will not start up.

    • 4

Remove the air filter cover from the chain saw and then remove the air filter from the device. The air filter is made of a cotton and paper-like substance.

    • 5

Vacuum out the air filter and then replace it in the chain saw. The air filter can cut the chain saw off if it gets too clogged.

    • 6

Look over the pull cord. The pull cord is used to start the chain saw. If it is not working or is broken, replace it with a new one from your local hardware store.

    • 7

Remove the gas cap and fill the gas tank with gas if needed. Stihl chain saws use a 50:1 gas to oil ratio.

    • 8

Check over the gas filter and replace it if it has dirt and debris in it. Gas filters can be found at your local hardware store.
