About Kohler Engines Model K321s

The Kohler Company, headquartered in Kohler, Wisconsin, specializes in producing consumer and commercial products, including plumbing, engines and electrical devices. The Kohler 321 tractor engine was originally produced in the late 1980s. A one-year limited warranty applies to the engine; you must register it with Kohler to qualify.
  1. Power

    • The Kohler 321 engine produces up to 14 horsepower (hp) at 3,600 revolutions per minute (rpm). This four-cycle engine has one cylinder.

    Dimensions

    • The engine weighs 118 lbs. and displaces 31.3 cubic inches. Engine displacement refers to how much volume the piston cylinder has. The engine bore (diameter of the cylinders) is 3.50 inches and the engine stroke, the total length that the piston moves through the cylinder, is 3.25 inches.

    Spark Plug

    • The Kohler 321 engine uses a 0.56-inch Champion RH10 or similar spark plug. The engine is air cooled. The cylinders, camshaft and crankshaft are made of formulated cast iron. The oil tank can hold up to 4 pints of oil.

    Troubleshooting

    • If your Kohler engine just stops, then you may not have enough fuel or you may have dirt in your line. Check to see if you have enough oil as well, and check the spark plugs. If your engine overheats, then check your oil and fuel line to see if it's clogged. You can also clean the grass screen to remove any built-up debris. Your engine may misfire if you don't have enough fuel or if dirt has gotten into your air cleaner or fuel line.

    Storage

    • If you are planning not to use your engine for more than two months, then you should prepare it properly for storage. Clean the engine and empty out the fuel. Or, you can treat the fuel with a stabilizer to keep it fresh. Always store your engine in a dry area.
