How to Add a Hose to Each End of a Sprinkler

Sprinklers connected with sections of garden hose make a portable irrigation system that you can situate to water your whole yard. Although it is more labor-intensive to move the sprinklers around, the cost of the setup is far less expensive than an in-ground setup. Hose and sprinkler irrigation systems are suitable for rental properties, apartments or areas that normally do not need irrigation.

Instructions

    • 1

Look at the ends of the hose to find the smaller male end, which will fit into the sprinkler hose opening. Lay the hose out so the female end is next to the spigot and the male end is next to the sprinkler.

    • 2

Set your sprinkler on the lawn so the hose opening is facing the end of the hose.

    • 3

Lay out the next section of garden hose on the other side of the sprinkler, going from female end to male end away from the sprinkler.

    • 4

Attach garden hose T-connectors to the sprinkler, placing a rubber washer at the base of the threads in the female end, and then screwing the sprinkler to the connector.

    • 5

Place a rubber washer in each of the connections, and then screw the garden hose sections to the T-connector, tightening them securely by hand, matching the male to female connections.

Repeat this procedure for each hose you add to the portable irrigation setup.
