How to Repair the Husqvarna Chainsaw Plastic Crankcase

The Husqvarna chainsaw is a heavy-duty chainsaw that is manufactured by one of the leading names in commercial and residential lawn equipment. The crankcase cover on your Husqvarna chainsaw, which is made of durable plastic, covers the recoil pull start on your chainsaw. Although the plastic is sturdy, cracks in the crankcase cover can occur. If this happens, the cover should be replaced. Replacement plastic crankcasing can be ordered from the manufacturer and installed fairly easily.

Instructions

    • 1

Remove the spark plug wire from your Husqvarna chainsaw.

    • 2

Locate and remove the screws that hold the front handle in place on your Husqvarna chainsaw. Lift the front handle off and set it aside. This will allow you easier access to remove the crankshaft cover.

    • 3

Slide the rubber, T-shaped pull handle forward about six inches on the pull rope and untie the knot in the pull rope that keeps it affixed to the rubber handle. Slide the handle off the pull rope.

    • 4

Remove the screws holding the crankshaft on your Husqvarna chainsaw and remove it by hand. Set the new crankcasing in place and pull the starter rope through the pull rope hole on the casing. Slip the rope through the handle and tie it back into place. Insert the retaining screws and tighten them with your screwdriver.
