Remove the three hex-head screws securing the chute to the top cover of the Green Craftsman 5.0 HP gas snow thrower with a socket wrench. The chute is the portion of the snow thrower that blows snow away from the machine.
Turn the fuel cap counterclockwise and remove it from the unit. Locate and remove the two hex-head bolts on the top front of the cover with the socket wrench. Place a wrench around the nuts underneath the bolts to prevent the nuts from turning while loosening the bolts.
Find the two bolts on the front sides of the cover. Remove the bolts and nuts with the wrench and socket wrench. Locate and remove the four bolts on each side of the cover and the five bolts on the back of the cover facing the handles.
Lift the rear of the cover over the fuel tank and pull the cover completely off the Craftsman snow thrower.
