How to Hook Up a Light to a Toro Snowblower

If you ever need to use your Toro snowblower in the evening or on overcast snowy days, a small light affixed to the front will help you see better. By using a handlebar-style clamp, you can easily mount a small battery or electric-powered lamp to your snowblower's handle. There are a variety of different small lamps you can purchase and mount to your snowblower in about 20 minutes.

Instructions

    • 1

Mount the clamp to your snowblower's handle by opening it and slipping it over the push handle of the blower. Tighten the bolt to hold the clamp in place with a screwdriver or adjustable wrench.

    • 2

Affix the small light to the handlebar clamp. Apply a small amount of Super Glue to the back of the lamp and then place it flat against the handlebar clamp. Hold the lamp in place until it bonds tightly. Test the battery-powered lamp to make sure it is working.

Cut a 1-foot length of wire. Strip both ends using the wire strippers. Connect one end to the black wire coming from the back of the lamp. This will be the ground wire. Attach the other end of the wire to the wing nut holding your blower's handle together.

Cut a second piece of wire, but cut it long enough to reach from the handle to the spark plug on your blower. Strip both ends and then connect one end to the red, or positive, wire leading from the back of the lamp. Twist the ends of the wire together to connect them.

Attach an O-ring to the other end of the wire and lift your spark plug wire off the plug. Place the O-ring over the spark plug tip and then replace the plug wire. Turn on your lamp to test it.
