How to Install a New String on an Echo 200R Weed Eater

Installing new string on an Echo 200R weed eater is a simple process, as the 200R does not utilize a spool and string feed mechanism. Although this increases the frequency of string changes, it makes the process easier because you do not have to keep with removing a spool, winding new string and getting the string to feed once you change it.

Things You'll Need

Instructions

    • 1

Turn off the trimmer's motor and place it on the ground with the trimmer head facing upward.

    • 2

Grasp the two nylon lines that extend across the dished center of the head and meet in the middle. Pull the remaining line out of the trimmer head with your fingers.

    • 3

Cut two pieces of nylon trimmer line to approximately 6 inches in length with a utility knife, or purchase pre-cut nylon strings sold by Echo.

    • 4

Thread one line into one of the holes located on the side of the trimmer head until the end of the string rests at the halfway mark in the recessed dish on the bottom of the cutter head.

    • 5

Thread the line into the second hole on the side of the trimmer head until the end of the line butts up against the first line you installed.
