Turn the engine off and allow it to cool. Pull the spark plug boot from the spark plug. This will ensure that the machine will not start while you are working on it.
Clean any accumulated snow from the chute and from the adjustable height control, which is located at the top of the chute.
Remove the two height control mounting bolts by turning them counterclockwise with a wrench. Pull the height control assembly from the top of the chute. The control cable can remain attached.
Locate the mounting bolts at the bottom of the chute and remove them by turning them counterclockwise with a wrench. Pull the chute straight up to remove it.
Place the new chute into position and tighten the mounting bolts in a clockwise direction with a wrench.
Replace the height control and tighten the two mounting bolts in a clockwise direction.
Reinstall the spark plug boot by pushing it over the spark plug until it clicks into place.
