How to Tune an Echo Leaf Blower

If your Echo leaf blower starts to lose power and become difficult to start, the carburetor may be out of adjustment. To tune up the engine, you must readjust the carburetor to the factory settings. The carburetor pulls fuel from the gas tank and oxygen from the air filter, mixes the fuel and oxygen together, and sends them to the engine cylinder for ignition. The procedure of adjusting the carburetor should take about 10 minutes to complete.

Instructions

    • 1

Set the leaf blower on a flat workbench. Locate the carburetor on the right side of the engine under the air filter.

    • 2

Locate the three adjustment screws on the side of the carburetor; each will be marked on the blower housing. The low speed adjust screw is marked "L"; the high-speed adjustment screw is marked "H"'; and the idle adjustment screw marked "I" or "IDLE."

    • 3

Turn the "L" screw clockwise until it lightly seats, then turn it counterclockwise 7/8 of a turn; turn the "H" screw clockwise until it lightly seats, then turn it counterclockwise 1 1/4 turns.

    • 4

Start the engine and allow it to warm up for 2 or 3 minutes. Slowly turn the "L" screw clockwise and counterclockwise until there is a consistent idle and smooth acceleration. Readjust the "I" screw until the engine runs smoothly.

    • 5

Advance the throttle to the "FAST" position; adjust the "H" screw clockwise until you hear a slight four-cycling sound, then turn it counterclockwise until the four-cycling sound is gone.
