How to Adjust the Deflector for a Blade on the Right on a Stihl FS 250

Stihl makes a wide range of power tools, including lawn tools like lawn trimmers. One lawn trimmer made by Stihl is the FS 250 trimmer. The FS 250 uses a nylon string attachment for trimming. However, you can replace this attachment with one-sided cutting blades to trim small, thin branches or trees. When you install any cutting blade, adjust the deflector so it's not damaged by the cutting blade and so it protects you against objects getting thrown back. If you have a one-sided cutting blade on the right hand side of the trimmer head, move the deflector so the blade doesn't contact it.

Instructions

    • 1

Loosen the screws that hold the deflector in place with the screwdriver.

    • 2

Spin the deflector around the width of the shaft so that the angled rear arc of the deflector is centered slightly to the left of the one-sided cutting head mounted on the right hand side.

    • 3

Slip the deflector up the shaft too so that it's far enough away from the cutting blade and no contact can be made.

    • 4

Tighten the screws on the deflector with the screwdriver.
