How to Remove a Husqvarna Chainsaw Piston

Remove the air filter and the cylinder cover from the unit. Use a cloth to wipe down the area around the air filter mount.

Remove the two screws holding the choke's cover plate onto the carburetor with a screwdriver. Remove the plate and the intake manifold from the chainsaw. Use your fingers to remove the carburetor from the mounting plate.

Remove the throttle linkage from the chainsaw engine. Remove the screws holding the intake manifold to the engine. Remove the intake manifold. Remove the spark plug from the engine with your fingers.

Remove the screws around the muffler with a screwdriver. Remove the muffler from the chainsaw's exhaust port. Use your screwdriver to remove the screws holding the cylinder to the chainsaw's crankcase. Pull the cylinder off of the piston and then remove the crankcase from the unit.

Remove the retaining clips from the piston with your fingers. Pull the piston pin out of the unit. Remove the piston from the connecting rod, then remove the piston from the chainsaw's engine.
