Ryobi Trimmer 720R Specifications

Ryobi Tools, a brand sold by the Japanese company Ryobi Ltd., manufactures consumer tools and power equipment, including outdoor trimmers. The company released the Ryobi 720R trimmer in 2000, which runs on gasoline. Ryobi no longer manufactures this trimmer, but you can still purchase replacement parts and accessories for it from third-party vendors. Always use the proper precautions when operating a trimmer, including wearing protective gear.
  1. Engine

    • The Ryobi 720R comes with a two-cycle, air-cooled engine. The engine stroke (total length that the pistons can travel within the cylinder) is 1.25 inches and the engine displacement is 1.9 cubic inches. The engine displacement refers to the total amount of volume that the pistons can move through the cylinders in a single movement. This trimmer uses a mixture two-cycle engine oil and unleaded gasoline. Ryobi recommends that you use Ryobi two-cycle oil. The mixture is 1 gallon of gasoline to 4 oz. of two-cycle oil; the fuel ratio is 32:1.

    Cutting Specs

    • This trimmer uses a fast-moving line as opposed to blades to cut down weeds and grasses. This line is 0.08 of an inch in diameter. Do not use lines that have been reinforced with metal on this trimmer. It uses a bump line releaser for the line spool, which is 3 inches in diameter. The trimmer has a dual-string cutting head and the cutting path diameter is 15 inches.

    Operating Specs

    • The Ryobi 720R trimmer weighs 12.5 lbs. The idle speed range of this trimmer is between 2,800 and 3,600 revolutions per minute (rpm) and the operating speed range is between 7,200 to 8,300 rpm. The operating speed range refers to the amount of power that the trimmer needs to perform. It has an electronic ignition with a slide-switch ignition switch. The spark plug gap is 0.020 of an inch. You must always properly set the spark plug gap. The trimmer fuel tank holds up to 12 oz. You must lubricate the motor with a fuel/oil mixture.

    Components

    • This Ryobi trimmer uses a centrifugal clutch and a diaphragm, all-position carburetor. It has an auto-rewind starter and a manual-spring return throttle. The throttle control is located near the handle of the trimmer and you can operate the trigger with your fingertip. The drive shaft housing is made of steel. The trimmer has a baffled muffler with a guard and a D handle for control and comfort. You receive a two-year warranty with this trimmer.
