Information on an Echo Model SRM 2100 Weedeater

Echo Incorporated, headquartered in Lake Zurich, Illinois, specializes in consumer and commercial power equipment. The Echo model SRM-2100 grass trimmer/brush cutter is a trimmer that Echo released in 1999. The company no longer manufactures this trimmer, but you can still purchase replacement parts for it from third-party vendors. This trimmer came with a five-year warranty, which covered material defects and labor.

    • The Echo model SRM-2100 grass trimmer/brush cutter features a power head and an optional shoulder harness for maximum comfort. The power head protects the recoil starter, clutch, ignition/fuel systems and engine. You can use either string or blades with this trimmer as long as you purchase the "Blade Conversion" kit. It features both a front D-loop and rear handle to reduce vibrations and help you better control the trimmer.

    Engine

    • The engine displacement of this trimmer is 21.2 cc, and this refers to the total amount of volume that the pistons can move through the engine in a single movement. It uses an air-cooled, two-stroke engine with one cylinder. The trimmer runs on mixture gasoline and two-stroke engine oil on a 50:1 fuel/oil ratio. Only use 89 octane unleaded gasoline in this trimmer. The fuel tank holds up to 14 fl. oz. of fuel. The engine idle rpm is between 2,800 and 3,200 rpm, and the wide-open throttle speed is between 9,500 and 11,000 rpm. The engine bore (cylinder diameter) is 1.268 inches, and the engine stroke (total length the pistons can travel within the cylinder) is 1.04 inches.

    Body/Dimensions

    • The Echo model SRM-2100 trimmer has a straight shaft, which allows you to access hard-to-reach places. The dimensions of this trimmer are 59 inches long by 13 inches wide by 11.8 inches high, and it weighs 11.4 lbs. It uses an NGK BPMR-7A spark plug with a 0.026-inch gap, and it has a spark arrestor muffler.

    Safety/Maintenance

    • Always wear safety glasses while operating the trimmer. Children and bystanders must stay at least 50 ft. away from the trimmer while you are operating it. Only use Echo-approved blades to avoid kickback. Do not inspect the blades while they are moving. Wait until the blades stop moving to remove any debris. Look for loose or broken components before starting the trimmer. Never operate a leaking trimmer. Always refill your trimmer outside, and stay at least 10 ft. away from the refilling zone. Always remove fuel from the tank before storage. Run the unit until the motor stops to remove any lingering fuel. Always install the plastic shield for protection.
