Soaker hoses allow shrubs and plants around the house and in the garden to receive deep, infrequent waterings, which means less water lost to evaporation and deeper root systems on your plants. Water delivered from a soaker hose goes directly to the roots, where the plants need it.
Since the water that weeps out of the soaker hose does not splash, incidence of fungal problems on nearby plants is greatly reduced. They save the gardener time and use far less water than traditional hoses.
Though the disadvantages to using soaker hoses are few, there are some. They are more costly than traditional garden hoses. Other drawbacks include their inability to water large areas, and if you have hard water, the weep holes of the hose can get clogged.
