How to Print Iron-On Transfers for Cross-Stitching

Cross-stitching, or counted-stitching, is a form of embroidery that results in intricate designs via a pattern. You can make your own patterns, as opposed to purchasing expensive pattern packs, by using easy-to-obtain materials. Printing out iron transfers for your cross-stitching hobby gives you the ability to create a myriad of designs for home decor, clothing, gifts and more. This easy technique also doesn't take very long, giving you more time to enjoy your cross-stitching endeavors.

      Browse the internet for a design you like for a cross-stitching pattern. Alternatively you can select an image you already have on your computer. Open the image in your choice of photo editing software or a Windows native software like Microsoft Paint.

      Resize the image you have selected into a size that accommodates your project.

      Insert a single sheet of iron-on transfer paper, face down, into the printer's paper feeder. Iron-on transfer paper can easily be obtained in office supply stores. Turn on the printer so it registers that the paper is in it.

      Select the printing preview option of the image you are wanting to print and center it evenly on the template printer page. From here you can also resize it if you want. Print the image.

      Remove the paper from the cartridge once the image has been printed on it.
