How to Remove a Featherlite Weed Eater Spool

Trimming the yard and around gardens does not necessarily require a heavy-duty trimmer. Many homeowners opt to use a lightweight unit such as the Featherlite by WeedEater. This trimmer handles most trimming duties around the home. Just like its heavy-duty counterparts, though, the Featherlite does require line changes. Removing a Featherlite WeedEater spool to add new line is a little simpler than most trimmers. WeedEater recommends using replacement line with a thickness between .065 and .080 inch when relining the spool.

Instructions

    • 1

Shut off the WeedEater Featherlite trimmer and allow the trimmer head to come to a complete stop. Pull off the end of the spark plug wire from the top of the spark plug with your fingers.

    • 2

Place the Featherlite trimmer on its side so you can access the bottom of the trimmer spool. The fuel tank fill opening should point up.

    • 3

Hold the outside of the trimmer spool with one hand. Pull on the tap button with your free hand and pull the spool away from the housing. The tap button is the button on the bottom-center of the spool that feeds line out when you tap it on the ground while trimming.
