Homelite Pole Saw Instructions

Homelite pole saws are electric powered pruners with a tubular neck connecting the blade to the motor frame and trigger. These Homelites also have a handle on the pole for your off-hand as well. Pole saws are used to prune tall shrubs, bushes and trees that are out of arm's reach. These saws are more convenient that using a step ladder in conjunction with a standard pruner. Homelite electric pole saws are quieter than gas powered saws, do not require motor oil and are lighter.

Instructions

    • 1

Put on your safety equipment. Plug your extension cord into an outlet and plug the Homelite pole saw into the cord. Wrap your off hand around the handle on the pole and wrap your strong hand around the handle down near the trigger guard. Do not place your finger on the trigger until you are ready to prune.

    • 2

Walk your saw to the pruning project. Hold the pole saw below foliage you plan to prune and pull the trigger. Once the saw is cycling at full velocity, lift the blade into the foliage. The safest way to prune is to always cut in an upward motion, away from your body. This will prevent any possibility that you will bring the blade down onto your foot or your leg.

    • 3

Prune a portion of the plant entirely before you step forward. Do not prune as you walk. If you continue cycling the blade as you step, pull the blade away from the foliage before moving forward. Look down as you step forward. If you are looking up as you move, your chances of falling are greater.
