If you are having trouble starting the trimmer, make sure the ignition switch is in the "On" position. Squeeze the throttle lever toward the grip and press down on the "Throttle Lock" button. While holding this down, release the throttle lever and it will be locked in the "Fast-idle" position. Move the "Choke" lever to the closed position. Push the "Primer" bulb near the engine a few times until you see fuel inside.
Open the fuel tank and look inside if you still cannot start the trimmer. If there is no fuel inside, add fuel to the tank and try again. If the wrong type of fuel is used, the engine will not start. You must use a 50:1 ratio of standard gasoline and 2-cycle engine mixing oil for the device to work properly.
Check the spark plug on the side of the engine if the trimmer will not start or only stays on for a few moments once running. Make sure the spark plug is screwed in all the way and that there is no debris in the plug cap. If the spark plug looks damaged or worn, it will need replacement.
Check the fuel filter and the air filter on the back of the engine if the trimmer still does not start, only runs for a few moments or is overheating while in operation. Make sure that the filters are free of dirt and debris, and if they are damaged, replace them for optimum performance.
