How to Remove the Spool From a Troy-Bilt Weed Eater

Troy-Bilt string trimmers are available in gas, electric and battery-powered models. The trimmers have a string that rotates rapidly on the bottom of the trimmer, which functions as the blade, cutting easily through weeds and grass. Troy-Bilt trimmers also function as edgers when turned on their side. The cutting string is made of nylon that will break after regular usage. When the string breaks, more string, housed in the spool, must be released. When the spool string supply is completely used up, you must remove the spool and either rewind it or install a new pre-wound spool.

Instructions

    • 1

Turn off the trimmer and lay it down so that the head is facing up.

    • 2

Press the two tabs on the side of the bump head then pull off the bump head.

    • 3

Pull the spool and string straight off of the head.
