How to Time a Toro

Toro manufactures lawn tools, including gas-powered edgers, trimmers, blowers and snow throwers. The timing, or idle speed, on your Toro is the speed the tool runs at when you do not give press the throttle. It is the natural running speed of the engine. Sometimes, the Toro can run too fast or too slow. However, Toro lawn tools come with a fuel mixture screw, or idle adjustment screw, that can be turned to achieve the right idle speed.

Instructions

    • 1

Add fuel if the Toro is low or empty.

    • 2

Press the Toro's primer bulb five times. Start your Toro.

    • 3

Allow your Toro to run for about five minutes without adjusting it.

    • 4

Locate the idle adjustment screw, which is near the carburetor and the primer bulb.

    • 5

Insert the screwdriver into the tip of the idle adjustment screw. If the timing is running at a low speed, turn the screw about a half-turn to the right. If it's running too fast, turn the screw a half-turn to the left.
